Aashirvaad is already the largest fresh wet chutney brand on quick commerce — ahead of iD Fresh. The category it leads is roughly one six-thousandth the size of the fresh bakery shelf sitting next to it, and the accompaniment occasion that is selling belongs to a dry podi.
Chutney on quick commerce is not a small category with room to grow. It is a rounding error on the condiment shelf, and the fresh wet slice is a rounding error inside that.
Relative offtake value across the captured panel, indexed to the fresh wet chutney shelf. Bars are log-scaled — each equal step is a ten-fold difference — because a linear scale renders six of the seven invisible.
| Format | Value share | SKU share | Units / store-day | Discount | What it needs |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dry podi / powder | 67.9% | 18.2% | 0.117 | 9.7% | Ambient. Courier-able. |
| Ambient wet (jar) | 20.1% | 53.8% | 0.007 | 10.8% | Ordinary warehouse. |
| Sweet preserve | 9.0% | 8.1% | 0.042 | 6.8% | Ordinary warehouse. |
| Fresh wet | 2.7% | 12.3% | 0.006 | 5.7% | Chilled DC. Daily dispatch. |
| Indo-Chinese "chutney" | 0.2% | 7.6% | 0.000 | 14.8% | A sauce, different need. |
The one that matters A single SKU — Noice Gun Powder, Swiggy's own-label idli podi — is 65% of all chutney value on quick commerce. It moves 0.74 units per store per day; the entire fresh wet format moves 0.006. The accompaniment occasion is real and it is being served dry, at ₹89, by the platform itself.
The brief assumed a gap to close against iD Fresh. In fresh wet chutney there isn't one — the gap runs the other way.
Noice lists four fresh wet chutneys across ~50 stores each and sold none in the period. Its chutney business is entirely the podi.
Third in Bangalore across all formats, and four times iD's share there.
| Brand | Units / store-day | In stock | Discount | Price | SKUs |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Noice — podi | 0.736 | 87.0% | 35.4% | ₹62 | 6 |
| Aashirvaad | 0.019 | 99.9% | 5.4% | ₹44–49 | 11 |
| iD Fresh | 0.003 | 97.7% | n/a | ₹59 | 7 |
| Khetika | 0.000 | 98.1% | 14.3% | ₹42 | 4 |
What 99.9% in stock means A short-shelf-life product that never runs out anywhere is not supply-constrained. Noice, the only accompaniment that actually sells, is the only one that goes out of stock — at 87%. Availability is not the binding constraint on this shelf; demand is.
Month on month, Aashirvaad's fresh chutney is flat and iD's is compounding. The category underneath both is not moving at all.
| Fresh wet chutney | Prior month | Latest month | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aashirvaad — units / day | 36.5 | 39.4 | +8% |
| iD Fresh — units / day | 4.1 | 14.1 | +244% |
| Khetika — units / day | 0.3 | 0.4 | — |
| Chutney's share of the fresh pie | 0.19% | 0.19% | flat |
The shape of the two curves A 65% share that grows 8% while the challenger grows 244% is a lead with a date on it. iD is not taking the category from ITC — it is growing into a category that is not growing, which is the same outcome arriving more slowly.
Fresh wet chutney has already won the shelf-space argument on quick commerce. It lost the rate-of-sale argument.
| Brand | Bangalore | Delhi NCR | Mumbai | Hyderabad | Chennai | Pune | Kolkata |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| iD Fresh | 99.3% | 97.1% | 92.6% | 97.1% | 73.1% | 96.9% | — |
| Noice | 90.7% | 90.8% | 89.8% | 76.4% | 86.2% | 50.8% | 85.7% |
| Khetika | 43.3% | 81.2% | 86.1% | 88.6% | — | 1.4% | — |
| Aashirvaad | 88.0% | 35.7% | 39.8% | 34.0% | 46.8% | 47.5% | 46.4% |
iD's chutney sits in 99% of Bangalore stores and sells four units across three hundred of them. Khetika holds 341 stores and sold three units. The shelf is not the scarce resource.
iD is not a chutney company. Chutney is 0.2% of its captured business; Indian breads are 99%. It sells chutney because it owns the plate the chutney goes on. ITC owns the second-largest position on that same plate and is not using it.
| City | Bread stores | Chutney stores | Chutney per 100 bread units |

354 stores Aashirvaad chapati is in 420 Delhi NCR stores. Aashirvaad chutney is in 66. The anchor is already national and already ITC's; the accompaniment is riding almost none of it. Hyderabad, where the two are closest in coverage, has more than double Bangalore's attach rate.

Noice is Swiggy's own label — 200+ SKUs across 13 categories, built on 40-plus partner kitchens, live in six metros. It is the only operator building the same fresh network ITC is building, and it owns the shelf it sits on.
| Fresh-DC segment | Share of the fresh pie | ITC brands | Platform label | Leaders |

| Fresh bakery & cakes | 51.0% | 0.1% | 4.3% | Baker's Dozen 23%, Britannia 16%, Cadbury 8% |

The pattern Every segment where the platform label has built share is a segment ITC is absent from. Noice holds 65% of chutney, 15% of dips, 11% of bread and 4% of fresh bakery. ITC holds 0.1% of fresh bakery and 0% of bread — the two segments that are 95% of the entire fresh opportunity — while leading the one that is 3.5% of it.
Noice also carries a chutney variety pack and iD a pack-of-two. Aashirvaad's fresh range is five single-flavour packs at one price point and, on Blinkit, no sambar — the narrowest trial and repeat ladder of the three.
Bangalore is not the biggest chutney market. It is the most fresh-receptive one — which is a different and more useful fact.
The brief asked how to close a gap against iD in Bengaluru fresh chutney. On the evidence, that gap is already closed and the questions underneath it are different ones.
The uncomfortable read A new chilled supply chain was built and pointed at the smallest segment it can serve. The same network reaches a fresh bakery and bread opportunity 6,600 times larger, in which Sunfeast — a brand with a 40-day fresh cookie range and 60 kitchens behind it — currently holds 0.13%.
